Avis Linnell dies under suspicious circumstances.

October 14, 1911

Linnell dies in her room at the YWCA at 68 Warrenton Street. First considered a suicide, she is subsequently found to have been murdered by her fiancée, the Rev. Clarence Richeson, thanks to an extensive investigation led by the Boston Post. Richeson pleads not guilty by reason of insanity, but is convicted and executed in the electric chair.
